Hotel Avándaro
Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico
The Avándaro Hotel project is an ambitious renovation and expansion. Part of the masterplan, the creation of new amenities, and the remodeling of the existing buildings and facilities of the Golf Club respond to the need to redefine and complete the spaces of the original project, conceived over 60 years ago by Noldi Schreck together with José Luis Chain, with the involvement of Francisco Artigas.
Architecturally, the challenge was to unify the hotel’s various styles, adapting them to a contemporary aesthetic through the use of lighting and materials such as steel, while respecting traditional elements. At the same time, sustainability was prioritized, reducing the carbon footprint by reusing existing materials and transforming the dividing façade into a key element. Energy efficiency and climate control strategies were also incorporated, including solar panels and systems for rainwater collection and reuse.
The hotel features 81 suites/houses, combining remodeled and new constructions, oriented toward the golf course. Its proximity to Mexico City facilitates access for corporate groups. Consequently, the program was expanded to meet the needs of different audiences. It now includes guest rooms, a café, a restaurant, a bar, a shop, and a convention center, creating a convergence between convention attendees, hotel guests, and club members.
The renovation aimed to clearly define each area, ensuring that each group could enjoy an environment specifically designed for their activities.
