Hotel Avándaro
Ego

Ego is a boutique store for travel accessories and books, part of Hotel Avándaro. Despite its small scale, the space was designed to maximize functionality. Its aesthetic contrasts with the hotel’s traditional materiality through the use of black metalwork, wooden furniture, and carefully considered lighting, while still engaging in dialogue with the brick walls, exposed wooden beams, and sloped ceilings characteristic of the complex.

Access to the store is through the main lobby. Its location allows it to open visually toward the hallway through large windows, connecting with lounge areas and offering views of the golf course.

From the exterior, the store is framed by a black metal canopy that contrasts with the reddish tone of the bricks. Brick columns divide the space, while black-framed windows allow transparency between interior and exterior.

The rectangular space is organized around wooden and metal furniture arranged in a horseshoe shape along the side walls, almost from floor to ceiling. A movable metal staircase provides access to the upper levels. The shelves are strategically designed to display merchandise with varied sizes and angles, allowing for both aesthetic appeal and efficient organization. The lower part of the unit incorporates closed storage compartments in light and dark wood tones, seamlessly integrating into the space.

Lighting plays a key role: from indirect light on the shelves that highlights the products to subtle downlights, the space achieves a carefully curated and refined atmosphere.
