Las Nubes
Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico
Las Nubes is a residence conceived as a retreat in the forest of Valle de Bravo for a couple. It stands out for its strategic integration into the highest part of a steeply sloped site.
The design establishes a dialogue between architecture and vegetation, featuring a contemporary character with Nordic influences. The gabled roofs, characteristic of the region, are reinterpreted through the use of contrasting black clay tiles and warm, light-toned wooden interiors.
Access from the street is defined by a discreet façade composed of black brick blocks, wooden latticework providing privacy, and landscaped elements that serve as a vestibule.
The program is distributed across two parallel volumes distinguished by the contrasting material treatment dark on the exterior and light on the interior. The northern volume houses the public areas, including a covered terrace overlooking the forest, while the southern volume, half a level below, contains the family room that connects to an outdoor patio and the surrounding landscape.
Terraces and patios create distinct zones social or introspective hat allow flexibility in the overall experience of living and gathering.
In the private areas, all bedrooms enjoy views of the surrounding vegetation, reinforcing the sensation of being suspended among the treetops.
