Casa Ocre
Valle de Bravo, State of Mexico
This residence, situated on an embankment lot with unobstructed city views at the front, faced an initial challenge due to a large retaining slope at the back that limited the entry of natural light into the interior. To address this, the construction was set back a few meters, creating a rear patio and a fruit-tree garden. A double-height glazed façade allows light and transparency to flood the interior.
The main entrance is located on the basement level, taking advantage of the site’s slope to accommodate a column-free parking area, a wine cellar, a multipurpose room, and service quarters.
At the back of the ground floor, a staircase bathed in natural light unfolds around a central tree. Although compact in footprint, the ground floor integrates the living room, dining area, bar, and kitchen in a continuous flow that enhances the sense of spaciousness. Large sliding windows open onto a covered terrace, a garden with a reflecting pool, and a flamed granite jacuzzi, creating a seamless extension toward the outdoors.
The upper floor houses three bedrooms arranged around a family room, each with views of either the city or the garden. The master bedroom stands out for its sloped oak ceilings, suspended fireplace, and a spacious walk-in closet with a bathroom clad in gray marble.
Oak ceilings and flooring integrate with custom-made furniture and quarry stone walls, while natural light washes over the surfaces in warm ochre tones a quality that gives the project its name.
